About Us

Women’s Voice is a not for profit Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), run by women for women in Hastings & St Leonards. Women’s Voice seeks to:

  • empower all local women, regardless of age, race, ethnicity, sexuality or ability
  • encourage respect and awareness amongst all cultures and beliefs
  • promote gender equality
  • support equal opportunities for all women

Our aims are:

  • to provide a safe forum where women can meet and discuss issues which concern them
  • to identify women’s needs locally and work to meet them
  • to enable women to overcome barriers to achievement and success
  • to organise women-focused events
  • to challenge sexism and misogyny whenever we encounter it
  • to provide advocacy and practical support and information for the women of Hastings and St. Leonards

Working with others 

Women’s Voice works in partnership with a wide variety of local and national organisations, including Hastings Borough Council (HBC), East Sussex County Council (ESCC), Hastings and St Leonards Children’s Centres, Hastings International Organisation (HIO), Hastings Voluntary Action (HVA), Citizens Advice Bureau (CIB); CUPP (Community University Partnership Programme); the WEA (Workers Educational Association); Links; Respond Academy; and the White Ribbon Campaign. 

Vision for the future..

  • to set up a permanent Women’s centre in Hastings that will provide a safe social space and resource for all local women
  • to organise and facilitate educational and creative workshops, on issues such as domestic violence, assertiveness, employment skills and other topics that contribute to the empowerment of women
  • to fundraise so that we can respond to and meet the needs of local women
